Up and Running.....

It's the most WONDERFUL tiiiiiiiime of the yearrrrrrrrr - NFL season is about to be underway and the training camps have begun.  It has been an exciting, crazy, event-changing, raining, shuttling, tent-popping, banner-posting, gator-crashing, lunch-binging......time.

After a marketing team meeting, we have been informed that we cannot take any pictures, video, or even be on our phone while we're at practice....come onnnnn! - it's not like we're the New England Patriots.  So unfortunately, I cannot post any pics or videos of my own, but I can write about what I see (when I'm not taking laps around the entire facility trying to get everything in order with the other interns).  Though, I CAN post pics from the website.

FUNNY story ----> The Gator "Attack" - For those of you that don't know, we refer to our four-wheelers as "gators".  So after one of the interns finished breaking down some tents, he thought it would be smart to take his gator down an almost 90 degree incline hill.....in the pouring rain.  As he proceeded down the "slope".....the gator twisted around and threw him out.  However, he was able to grab onto the steering wheel and swing around the front of the gator while smashing his feet into the ground (Fred Flintstone style) trying to brake the gator....this is all happening while he's yelling "the FENCE, the FENCE" (fence = the bright orange plastic screen fencing).  We almost lost an intern in action as he tried to save the plastic fencing.  News traveled fast throughout the facility and got to Arthur Blanks, who spoke to the Marketing Director, who spoke to our boss, who spoke to....poor Justin.  Let's just say he finished the night off with a Heinken in hand.  All is good and we all are still interns!  Justin's new nickname around the facility.......Crash.

Falcon Notes:
1. 1st practice with pads announced Aug 2 - didn't  take long for the players to put them to good use....(next note)

2. Weatherspoon (#56) had a RIDICULOUS hit on Antone Smith.  Laaaaaid him out - and he was slowing down at that point - crowd went crazy.  AJC tweets: "Spoony Spoon laying the lumber."

3. Players fighting for their spots....Literally.  Practice today was pretty feisty to say the least - there were 3 fights that had to be broken up and several angry words exchanged.  The Right CB, LB, WR, and DE are allll up for grabs and players are just fighting to make the roster.

4. "You can't run from the police".... That's what Weatherspoon said when reporters asked him about his nicknaming of LB Chris Lofton ("The Police")

5. Bear Woods makes his debut as a rookie....YES, you read that name correctly.

  2. My college in Baltimore bought the Ravens training camp after they shifted preseason to Florida in 2005... So I used to actually train at a real camp with varsity soccer teammates from Stevenson University...

  3. that is insane that your on a MARKETING TEAM and they dont want you tweeting and facebooking about the team? that is broken rule #1 in marketing these people need to wake and realize that you guys should be sharing whats going on at practice and taking advantage of the social media thats happening with the fans during those events too.

  4. @Quintano - They don't mind me tweeting or facebooking about the team, my experiences, etc. We just can't take pics & videos at practice because someone could see their formations, plays, etc. I can write all I want about the team and what I see and what not. Thanks for following!
